Interesting choice of graphics. I remember buying one of these "Aztec Calendars" in Mex City about 35 years ago. It was made of old crushed bones. Not sure what the Mayan calendar would look like....

Anyway, I was at the Anthropological Museum in Mex City last year and they have now decided..is NOT Aztec....and not even a calendar. Best of all, they think it may have been a wrestling platform (which sounds pretty HOT to me!)

Victor, Victor, Victor....I've said it before when that obviously talentless Mapplethorpe hung those abominations toward mankind. How could anyone make anything like that?...in my world we show restraint...restraint in our lives make us ignorant and simple. Two qualities I admire. Also, just because something is true doesn't mean you have to hold it up to the world for all to see...we prefer to turn our heads, sit on our hands and throw it in the closet. You could learn a lesson or two. Rome fell because it didn't show restraint. Is that what you want here?

Oh dear...God's work will never be done.

That's just the phrase they use at the opening of Alive or Alive II. I think it's fitting given the 'circus' of this type of show. I also don't think you would feel the same way about Mr. Stanley anymore, well, let's just say, for niceity sake - he has 'changed'. But they are still a spectacle, so are the fans. I'll never forget my father's heterosexism, tearing my posters from the walls, leaving the shredded corners hanging from thumbtacks on my wood paneled pre-teen room (I was about 12 or 13). Men in makeup, after all, I guess that was "too gay" for him. LOL!!!! I had their 1974 debut in '77 I think. It must have been one of my first three albums. The other two were Saturday Night Fever and something by Abba (or was it Nina Hagen or ELO?). Those were the days! They were my first favorite rock band until I discovered Cheap Trick, then Gary Numan, and well the rest is HIStory....

I love KISS. Since a young teen I had attended all their shows starting at DRESSED TO KILL till probably DYNASTY. I remember the crush I had on shirtless Paul Stanley.
I had all the stuff a real Kiss fan would have...and not to negate because i believe that music is very personal, but the greatest rock and roll band of all time? Wow....It would be hard for me to narrow that down. Personally I would call them the greatest rock and roll band of marketing in the world...and I love them.

the "fame spectrum" has broadened. and, the idea of a generation has also evolved. the tides and currents of what things mean to different people is a complex pulse to try to keep a finger on. a multi-faceted pulse. toss into the mix the globalization that's going on, and i think trying to figure out what's happening is sort of incomprehensible at the moment.

all that said, even though i feel like i'm missing out on more than ever before, and also failing to understand a lot of what i'm catching, i think it's getting better all the time.

It is so good to hear that Cher vinyl never touched a needle...coming from you TJ, it sounds like the music was good. What a relief. The Bear community is much more progressive than that...right? I think I'll go next time just to prove it...if they play 'I Believe in Love', I'm outta there..................

i have one question, why do we as a (bear) community have dances, and barely one percent of the attendees even bother to get out on the dance floor? afraid to burn some calories? afraid you might drop a pound or two? i hear so many default responses "oh i'm waiting to hear a song i can dance to", or "i havent had that much to drink... yet!". this to me is disheartening. why even bother having a DANCE if no one is going to rise to the occasion and do just that. otherwise, it was a good night, a nice collection of furries. it was good to connect w some new and familiar faces... but somehow i missed you, rumor has it you were out back by the voodoo doughnuts! LOL

There was a distinct community vibe last night at Bearracuda that was at once very friendly in a furry kind of way, and very sexy. Some familiar faces and new and welcome faces from the local area and from beyond were there. But comradery in a bear universe kind of way was very distinct and I loved it..... Can't wait for the next one.

AND newly restored for 2009...after a series of winds took the glass away in 2008. The Column tops it out at 125 feet

AND..here is a bot of Did You Know...?

The Astor Column has to be the only place (I know of..) that allows...nay, encourages you to throw something from the outdoor balcony.

Read on---> Nearby the Column is a small gift shed that sells small balsa wood gliders and are encouraged to launch from the Column. On a busy day you will see tens of these gliders sailing on the thermals before landing in the fir/ spruce trees that surround the park.

Keep Oregon Weird! (not just Portland ...)

AND newly restored for 2009…after a series of winds took the glass away in 2008. The Column tops it out at 125 feet

AND..here is a bot of Did You Know…?

The Astor Column has to be the only place (I know of..) that allows…nay, encourages you to throw something from the outdoor balcony.

Read on—> Nearby the Column is a small gift shed that sells small balsa wood gliders and are encouraged to launch from the Column. On a busy day you will see tens of these gliders sailing on the thermals before landing in the fir/ spruce trees that surround the park.

Keep Oregon Weird! (not just Portland …)

I loved every Joker there ever was and hopefuly will be. I've noticed that every Joker (cartoon and live action) changes. I'm sad that Heath wont be back as the Joker but am wiling to embrase the new Joker with open arms and a heart full of trust that they will become the next best thing in The Joker World. We all miss Heath.
